Strange perhaps? A new theme on a dead blog?
As I’ve stated before I have been thinking about making my own website for about a small year now. And recently I’ve started to learn HTML & CSS. So finally I’m on my way of making it.
A question you’ll probably have: What is this personal website going to be about?
Firstly I’m going to enroll in a Danish Folk high school, and I want to use this website to keep friends and family updated on my wonderful adventures.
Secondly I’m having a growing interest in web design & illustration. Well to be honest I’ve always had the the interest but didn’t give it much attention outside school papers etc. I’m going to add a portfolio part to the website later on.
Lastly I’m going to keep track of all the fun things that happened / are going to happen in my life and use it as a digital photo album.
Its going to be a bit of work. next weekend I’ll try to make some simple test websites and start practicing illustrator using tutorials from ndesign studio.
I’m still going to use my old blog until I got this one sorted out.
Jess out.
I have decided to move my blog the the blogger free blog feature of google.
Why you ask? I’m going to change this page throughout 2009 (at least thats the plan) and I’m trying to make it more easilly manageble for myself.
And also blogger is a part of a communicty, bigger audience = more win.

Last Thursday the time finally came to set sail for Northrend, as the new expansion of World of Warcraft released. To celebrate the release and give players the opportunity to start playing wow the second it came out, Blizzard organized big release parties around Europe. At these release parties, which were held in Rotterdam, Paris, Madrid, London, Berlin and Stockholm, you could buy WotLK at 0.00h. Besides that there were also some events and various things going on. Wednesday morning I decided that the event would actually make a good cover article for the Arisen Times (or Azure Times, or Stormreaver Chronicles). So I called Dennis to come help me, borrowed my dad’s camera and talked to a friend from school in an attempt to learn to shoot photo’s in 4 hours.
That night me and Dennis took the 10 o’clock train to Rotterdam. Finally at the event place it was still a bit quiet. There was a crowd but it was not stacked with people like I expected. There were screens displaying WotLK movies and music and free fries. All in all not very exciting (although free fries omnomnom), but we took some pictures anyway. We decided to go for a beer and come back later. When we came back they had just started a Question round for a developer, a cosplay competition and a small quiz. All hosted by dutch pop game crew Gamekings. However the sound was too low to actually hear what they were saying.
When the time finally came closer people started counting down and… Bang! Glittery explosions of even more glitters and epic music. It was pretty cool in fact.
Comedic relief came when we looked at the video screens wel…. look for yourself
Music
As most people who read this blog know (or if you didnt know yet), I am a big fan of Muse. Recently during my numerous Youtubing browsing for music I stumbled across some old muse B-sides. I knew most of them through my Hullabaloo live CD. But these radio/album recording are so much better then those live ones. And thus of course I have to share them with you:
Muse - Dead Star
Muse - In your World
Muse - Sunburn (not a B-side)
Muse wasn’t the only band who came back to my attention. Recently I am in the mood for SKA. And that brought back memories about this punk/Ska band called Reel Big Fish. I only knew one of their songs, Where have you been. This was a great moment to look up more of their music. Prepare for more links!
Reel Big Fish - Where have you been
Reel Big Fish - Don’t Start a Band
Reel Big Fish - Party Down
Reel Big Fish - Take on me
*Jess walks off singing*
I hate to ruin the magic
I hate to kill the dream
but once you’ve been behind the scenes then you’ll know just what I mean
you might think that’s its cool to get up on stage
and play rock and roll from your heart and soul
but no one shows up and your songs all suck
and there’s no applause and no flying cars
no girls will scream for you and no ones gonna stay in love with you
Don’t start a band
no body wants to hear nobody understands
don’t start a band
you will be so damn terrible they’ll all think your shitty
don’t start a band
oh yea yea yea
’cause you wont get paid
and you won’t get laid!
Give me music is the phrase of the week
I have been chatting with my friend Anna 2 nights ago. (Yes I know I’m slow with posting) Anyways, we ended up linking each other music again. Which is a good thing as she gave me some songs I heard before, but had no clue about who wrote them or the song name. For you listening entertainment I will link some of them below.
Dexys Mightnight Runners - Come on Eileen
Kent - Vinternoll2
Bliglad - Kaerlighed til Folket
Maria Mena - Your glasses (Sorry about the vid, no decent one available)
There was even more, but I’ll keep it to these atm :D. Funny thing to note is that I’m totally get fired up by Maria Mena atm and its now the song I have to work on for my next singing class.
Some other noteworthy event has been that I finally got serious with migrating to Scandinavia and spend my Sunday afternoon looking up a migration website and chatting with Stina about work and moving. This is going to be something that is coming closer, but also is going to be very exciting. 2009 is going to be an exciting year..
My old shoes finally broke down on me. I bought K-swiss shoes with a twist tongue, and I was waiting for the day that the tongue would come lose. So it finally did and now I have new shoes that are at least three times as awesome

Life & Events
It has been some time since I posted again. A lot of things have been up lately but I haven’t even giving it a thought to post some here. Anyways here is a short summary of things that happened.
Music:
Lately school is taking up more time. Also I have been playing wow more frequently so I havent been practising as much as I could. But some good stuff is that I have been to Breda Barst Music festival. Which was sweet. Also went to see SMV (Stanley Clark, Marcus Miller & Victor Wooten) live in 013. For those who don’t know the names. They are 3 great bassist atm. They did a gig with each on showing that they were omg good (times 3). Lots of bass wopwopwop

Warcraft:
So I have been playing warcraft more. Been busy gearing Skitty and grinding money and some rep. Last week was brewfest where I recieved a Kodo mount! I have also been doing some 2man instancing with Ilona.
Currently working the second issue of the Arisen Times. Its going to be bigger then issue 1.
Real Life:
Totally remarkable then sometimes all the same things come together at the same time. Some of my friends broke up with their girlfriends and had relationship problems. Suddenly I was talking to different friends about girls and relationships. Together with my unexpected interest in someone, school, life, myself.. and name a few more its been some odd month.
Things are still busy in my head, and there is still a lot going on but I can see the sky clearing. Good things will come and its vacation soon so I can give my thoughts a rest.
Jazz out!
<3
Skitty finally got exalted with Shatterd Sun Offensive. To celebrate this happy happening I bought an epic shield & neckpiece from them. Also I bought an epic dps chest from the auction house.
By chance I remembered I still had points on my wow trading card account. I was hoping for the ogre trinket, but that thing is so darn expensive im not going to waste my money on it. Instead I decided to buy a fancy new tabard. I remembered they had a nice bright blue one, but to my surprise they added new ones. One of them being bright Purple. Its so awesome I had to buy it.

We got together again this Sunday. Tom had to do some work on his appartment, so he didn’t join us until the evening. Jelle and I got jamming again and came up with a few riffs. For now on defined as;
- Ska groove (offbeats)
- Groove riff (with the slide)
- Bass Rhythm riff with no fancy name
- Ghost haunting thingy
Tom joined us in the evening and we came up with rhythm patterns for the ska groove and groove riff.
4 riffs in 1 day: <no named band> is on a speeding train and someone stole our brakes :p.
That was yesterday, Today I had my bass lessons. Because the ska groove had a Slap thing to it I asked my teacher to teach me some slap grooves. And its very good. I got the idea pretty quick, I just need to practice this more. But the ska groove sounds very good with slapping.
Last Sunday we had the first real bandmeeting. Real in the sense of that this time we knew each other a little better, we discussed real band things and finally did some jamming.
Meeting the band was great, after some talking we agreed that Toxicity (the song we settled on would be our first practice song) was not working for us instrument and mostly tuning wise.
The evening started off with Jelle and me jamming a bit over some blues riffs. I’m finding it hard to come up with some interesting bass lines on the spot. Tom joined us later because he forgot the meeting -.- do’h!
After he showed us some of his metal guitar playing we discussed some band things, like what kind of music we want to play and how cool it is we get along (something that keeps coming up in our conversations) :p We decided to tune to drop D and practice Stinkfist by Tool and work on along the watchowers if we got spare time.
My apartment has been promoted to offical <no named band>’s practice area. Now comes equiped with a keyboard and will be later joined with a extra amp.
We closed the evening with Tom and Jelle both playing a riff which could very well end-up in an awesome song. I just need to come up with a bassline to rock on ! \m/
Next bandmeeting/ practice day is sunday 24 august.
Our current bandmembers are:
Jelle - Lead guitar (blues), vocals
Tom - Rythm guitar (metal)
Jess - Bass (rock/indy), vocals
!! we need drummer !!
Jess out.
Logbook notes:
Need to work on:
- Scales for bassline construction.
- Organised vocal practice.
- Pick up danish again.
*note of thought, going to write my name as Jess for now to prevent confusion with Jelle’s name. (And it refers to jazz music, which makes it artistic and hip. I’m cool :p
